the shortest month caught me!

good grief it's almost march! which means....it's almost SPRING!!!!!
we have been stuck inside of late, which around here is not anyone's favorite place. we're ready to get out and play in the dirt and sun, so global warming, come to portland!
i kid you, i joke. but we could use some sun.
here's the bird, playing at the indoor park.
yes, in portland, you pay 50 cents and take your child to the indoor playground. ruby LOVES it. she sits in the different cars, she watches everyone, she sits in another car. this kid doesn't fight over toys or crash into anyone. she's a quiet observer, savoring her favorite glittery pink car.
though the photo has her in a cop cruiser. oops!

her other new obsession?
ELMO. yes people, it has happened. ruby met elmo and it's been love ever since. she can't get enough of him. and i just have to get over the fact that she would rather watch elmo on TV than read him in a book. or play kitchen. or push her baby stroller. the only thing that is up there with elmo is harassing the poor dog. (who loves it, by the way.)
so we watch elmo DVDs and talk about elmo a lot. we tried the library this morning which was a BAD idea. every other parent & child combo was at the dang library. it was crazy. there were no books she was interested in, the lines were long, and blah blah blah. SPRING PLEASE COME!
love to all!

this week in pictures

good evening my good people!
what a week in the life of the bird. she's officially TWO years old and will tell you all about it. she knows the answer to the question, "ruby, how old are you?" so dutyfully replies. i guess this means no cheating on airfare. damn! above you see her blowing out the candles on her chocolate puff pastry, and us heading to the soaking pool at the kennedy school, a local bed & breakfast/pub/movie house/brewery that is 2 blocks from our house. we went swimming on her birthday in a heated saltwater turkish bath! wahoo! we followed that up with beer and tater tots and burritos in the restaurant. we all loved it.

We finally had to do it. The hair was getting out of control. So Paula Jones came to the rescue! Paula, our dear friend and hair artist, came over with her adorable offspring, Ada Kay, for fun, haircutting, and lunch - all in no particular order. The lot of us were shorn and shaped up. Ruby's hair gets comments like, well, her mom and dads. Paula rules. xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Here we have Max, Ada Kay, and Ruby -- desperately wanting to play in the hair? No. Just hanging out by the gate. So cute. Alcatraz babies.

The biggest baby of them all. Mr. Man. George. He's an old fart now but so loved. Ruby gets on his back and sits on him like he's a horse. He's stopped even trying to fight it. We know he loves it.
Moving on to more cuteness:

Here we have the bathing beauty's, but I've "cropped" the picture, if you know what I mean. I turned around and found the two of them with their fingers up the nose AT THE SAME TIME and was able to snap a pic. THANK GOD neither one of them likes to dine during this scenario. Usually there is nothing gained by the finger, it's just a game of "hide the fingernail." Ah, toddlers.

Yo Grammy - check me in my monkey robe! I love it!
Can you all believe this robe? Why isn't it in my size? Found in Florida while Charlotte (Josh's mom) and I were looking for warm weather sandals....the two of us are no fools when it comes to good deals and cute robes. I think it was 7 bucks. SCORE! Thanks Charlottalove!!

A gal & her momma. Chilling out on the couch. That's it. Over and out. We love you.

back to life, our good life

two birds in front of banana joes, our favorite spot for a quick treat. imagine frozen bananas thru a high power juicer....it's like ice cream. but it's bananas. really!

little ruby bird watching the world go by in front of the lotus root cafe. up and down the stairs, up and down, up and down....

the photographer, caught standing up on the surfboard! we couldn't get the man out of the water. actually, none of us got out of the water. which is why this is the only picture of us at the beach! 'cause we were always swimming!

did you know there is a mini "grand" canyon in kauai? we went there and i kissed his cheek.

well, the travels are over for now. please enjoy these pics from the remainder of our amazing week in kauai.
xoxo
